WHAT IS TRUTH?
John 8:32 of the Bible tells us truth will set us free. We need to think about what this really means. The man in the photo above is most likely searching for food in order to satisfy his stomach. If life was simply all about making sure we have food and shelter, then very few people in this world should be unhappy. Living under a government that limits, or even takes away all our freedom with the promise to provide our basic needs would be just fine. Yet people risk their lives in order to escape such a government. Why? Could it be there are truths about human nature, and understanding these truths can help us us have a far more fulfilling life, a life truly worth living?
Ignoring truth will allow us to be deceived about what is really important in life. Living a lie will cause us to chase after things that will never truly make us happy. We will have an emptiness in our soul. Ignoring truth can impact our quality of life even if we go after the right things. We can easily fall prey to politicians who are more interested in staying in power as opposed doing what is best for us, or be influenced by a media more interested in achieving an agenda instead of providing unbiased, truthful information.
Clearly we are not all on the same page when it comes to our concept of truth. Many believe truth is purely subjective. Yet I doubt if any of those who hold that view would step in front of a speeding train or jump off of a high building. Ignoring truths can cause grave consequences, whether it is truth about physics or our life choices. There is even a greater truth we should never ignore!
What if there really is such a thing as spiritual truth? What if there really is an afterlife, in other words places like heaven and hell. What if there really is a God that created us, loves us, and wants us to have an abundant life in this world. What are the consequences of ignoring possible spiritual truths as well as the benefits of searching for these truths? Can our view of spiritual truth free us from addictions, help us deal with depression, and give us a deep down contentment where we don't need to get high or own lots of stuff in order to deal with and enjoy life?
Another question we should ask ourselves is if there is a God, and if all Truth comes from God, should it impact our view of how we should be governed, in other words how should it shape our political views. Our belief in God will impact our views on human nature, our views on human nature will effect how we approach solving social problems in addition to our views about life and liberty.
Very often our political and even spiritual views are formed by what we watch and hear on the nightly news, blogs and internet sites, even late night talk shows. So again if truth means anything to us, as many are agenda driven and not truth driven, we need to know if we can trust the media in all its forms since pundits and journalists claim to be guardians of truth.
This website will provide links, blogs, and other resources of well respected authors that have done their own research regarding the existence of God. In addition there will be resources discussing the type of government our Founding Fathers envisioned, and the two are related. I will also provide evidence pointing to an obvious media bias that tries to shape our views on faith and government as well as what is behind those biases. .
